Once Upon a Time

I didn't ask for prince charming
I didn't ask for a knight on a white horse

i didn't ask for diamonds
i didn't ask for pearls

i didn't ask for happily ever after
i didn't ask for fairy tale bliss

all i asked is you to be there
all i asked is for someone to care

Great poem. I was lucky enough to have found that person. We didn't have much but Rich and I were true soulmates. Can't ever take that away from me! Congrate to Jo-Anne.

Hi Becca...this is a touching piece today!

As women I think this is reflective of our upbringing...the need to seek affirmation from someone other than our self.

I struggled with this when raising my daughter - I wanted her to look within for the love and kindness that we so often expect from the outside world.

It's disappointing when we are let down by others, isn't it? Yet, we need others to make this journey more meaningful and fulfilling and to give our lives purpose.

Great poem, Becca.

Hugs, Jenny
